Wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scars, saggy skin: who doesn’t have something about their skin that makes them unhappy? The typical treatments for these conditions such as lasers, peels, or surgery can be expensive, painful, and largely ineffective. At home skin needling with a derma roller, also known as collagen induction therapy, promotes the natural production of collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are protein fibers found within the skin cells that are responsible for skin structure and elasticity.
The Chinese have known for centuries that needing the skin has a positive effect on its thickness, elasticity, and suppleness. As early as the Sung dynasty (~960A.D.) acupuncture facial rejuvenation techniques were used by the empress and emperor to maintain a healthy youthful and yet natural look to their skin.
The AcuLift Microneedle Derma Roller™ utilizes 540 extremely fine needles, much like tiny acupuncture needles. These needles penetrate the skin just enough to stimulate collagen and elastin production, without injury to the skin. The AcuLift™ roller is ideal for diminishing the signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles, reducing acne scars, stretch marks and tightening loose skin.
By using the AcuLift Derma Roller™ before applying topical serums or lotions, the effectiveness of the product is increased up to 1,000 times. Clinical studies have shown that micro-needle derma rolling can be just as effective as ablative treatments such as laser resurfacing, dermabrasion and chemical peels or non-ablative treatments such as IPL™, Fraxel™, or CO2 laser in stimulating elastin and collagen production. Unlike these treatments, however, the epidermis (the protective layer of the skin) is preserved. With the AcuLift™, there is no downtime, or pain involved. The Aculift Derma Roller can be used on acne scars, stretch marks, cellulite and even on the scalp to reduce hair loss.
What makes the AcuLift Derma Roller unique:
1) Number of needles. The more needles that a roller has, the more microchannels will be created. Most commercially available micro-needle rollers only contain 170 needles. The AcuLift™ rollers have 540 needles. More needles mean finer lines can be addressed, such as lines around lips and crow’s feet. Additionally, few needles spaced further apart will cause pain due to the proximity of pain receptors on the skin.
2) Smaller roller head. Which enables rolling around the lip area without risk of damage to the lips.
3) Shape of the needle. Needles typically come in two shapes: Diamond or wire-shaped. A wire-shaped needle has two problems: It can penetrate too deeply into the skin in areas where the skin may be thinner and they tend to bend or fall out of the roller disk more easily than the diamond shaped.
4) Safety. AcuLift™ Derma Rollers are pre-sterilized and made of lightweight, sterile, durable rustproof titanium over steel. They maintain their sharpness for up to six months of daily use.
About our founder:
The founder of our company, Michelle Gellis is a Licensed, Board Certified acupuncturist, a professor at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (Tai Sophia), and a nationally recognized instructor in the art of acupuncture facial rejuvenation. Looking for a way for her patients to enhance and maintain their treatments at home, Ms. Gellis investigated the availability of a safe, effective, easy to use, at home device. The AcuLift™ derma roller was the answer. This roller enables her patients to accelerate their results and work on areas, not limited to the face.
The AcuLift™ derma roller and related skin needling products are of the highest quality, micro-needle devices available in the US. As a division of AcuHealing LLC, all products approved by the American Acupuncture Council. There are other inferior derma rollers available on the market, but AcuLift is the only device available through an acupuncturist in the US.
Our goal is to make collagen induction therapy (micro-needle skin therapy) widely available for men and women who are interested in a non-invasive safe, affordable way to improve the appearance of their skin or hair. AcuHealing LLC also holds training classes for acupuncturists, doctors, nurses and estheticians who are interested in learning the art of facial rejuvenation or use of the AcuLift™ products.
